EdConsult LLC
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7, 2026 · Applies to HomegoingHQ (including both the African American Tradition and Traditional/Non-Denominational experiences), HomegoingHQ Concierge™, and HomegoingHQ Academy™ (together, the “Services”), operated by EdConsult LLC (“we,” “us”).
The plain-language promise first. The Services exist so families can organize one of the hardest seasons of their lives. What you share here stays your family’s: we do not sell your information, we do not run advertising, and your estate is visible only to the people you invite. The rest of this policy is the detail behind that promise.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider — we never see or store your plain password).
- Information you choose to add: estate and planning details, tasks, budgets, ledger entries, documents and photos you upload, memorial page content, funeral program content, provider quotes and notes, messages you send to the AI Guide, and applications you submit (for example, the Concierge application).
- Payment information: processed entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store card numbers; we receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and which plan it purchased.
- Bank information (optional feature): if you use bank import, Plaid retrieves balances with your authorization; the connection is used for the import and then destroyed. We do not store your bank credentials — they are never shared with us at all.
- Technical basics: the minimal logs our hosting and database providers keep to run and secure the Services (such as IP addresses and timestamps). We do not use advertising trackers or sell analytics profiles.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Services: your roadmap, ledger, documents, memorial pages, programs, and account features.
- To send transactional email you expect: sign-in and confirmation emails, family invitations you initiate, gift deliveries, weekly digests, and requests you submit (such as music or concierge inquiries).
- To provide AI assistance: when you use the Guide or AI features, the text you submit (and limited estate context needed to answer) is processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the response. We do not use your content to train AI models.
- To operate the business: support, security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
- Not for advertising, and not for sale to anyone, ever.
3. Who can see your information
- Your invited people: your estate or plan is visible only to members you (or another member with permission) invite. This separation is enforced at the database layer through row-level security.
- Memorial pages: if you choose to publish a memorial page, the content you place on it is public to anyone with the link — that is its purpose. Unpublish it at any time.
- Professionals you engage: if a certified concierge or a partner (such as a funeral home) is connected to your account at your family’s invitation or referral, they see what membership and branding features are designed to show. Concierges are independent businesses, not our employees; what you share with them directly is governed by your agreement with them.
- Service providers (processors): we use Supabase (database, authentication, storage), Netlify (hosting), Stripe (payments), SendGrid/Twilio (email delivery), Plaid (optional bank import), Google (provider search queries — your search terms and location are sent to Google Places to return results), and Anthropic (AI responses). Each receives only what its function requires.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of users, the public, or the Services.
- Business transfers: if EdConsult LLC or the Services are ever acquired or merged, information may transfer with the business under this policy’s protections.
4. Security
- All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS); stored data and files are encrypted at rest by our infrastructure providers.
- Documents and estate files are stored in private storage accessible only to your estate’s members.
- The Sensitive lock: account and policy numbers you place under the Sensitive lock are encrypted on your own device before upload. We cannot read them, and we cannot recover them if you lose your passphrase — there is no back door, by design.
- Sealed recordings: Last Wishes videos are sealed with a cryptographic fingerprint at upload so any alteration is detectable; sealed recordings cannot be edited or deleted through the Services.
- No system is perfectly secure. We work with providers whose security practices are independently audited, and we will notify affected users of a breach as required by law.
5. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: nearly everything you store is visible and editable in the app itself.
- Export: reports and documents can be printed or downloaded from the app.
- Deletion: email care@homegoinghq.com to delete your account and associated personal data. Some records may be retained where the law requires (for example, payment records) or where they belong to a shared estate other members still use — in that case we remove your personal account and membership.
- Email: transactional emails are part of the Services; optional digests can be turned off in the app.
- Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EEA/UK), you may have additional rights — to know, to delete, to correct, to portability, and to non-discrimination. We honor verified requests at the address above. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
6. Children
The Services are for adults and are not directed to children under 13, and accounts may only be created by people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children; memorial content about a family, added by adults, is the responsibility of the adults who add it.
7. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, then delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period, except where longer retention is required by law or by the shared nature of estate records described above.
8. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and note it in the app. Questions or requests: care@homegoinghq.com · EdConsult LLC, Michigan, USA.
